Jan & I spent an awfully-productive-girly-day yesterday. She joined me for W’s bootcamp and survived it – onya gal! After lunch we headed to Suntec City to claim J’s nano prize only to be distracted by this new kid on the block! Currently there’s only 1 Promod store in Singapore and FYI its French-owned ok! Check out J’s buys and mine and my new bracelet – thanks J!

Good luck with figuring out your ibook-baby!!! 🙂

brownie, nutella cup cake & the red velvet cake….mmmm..

We had our cell outing this week, makaned at First Thai restuarant (Purvis st) and did desserts at Food for Thought this new lil cafe opposite Bras Basah complex.

Their desserts are really something!!! They actually pride themselves on having different desserts on a weekly basis as they promote the talents of home makers, upcoming bakers etc etc. The brownie was OMG heaps better than NYDC’s!!!!! But the red velvet cake TOOK THE CAKE for me!!!! I believe it’s made of rhubarb, so its kinda carrot cake like with yummy cream cheese frosting… mmmmmmmmmmmm. The place is cosy, prices VERY reasonable. It reminds me of PS cafe, but cheaper version. I’ll definitely be back!

P.s if you’re wondering what Dezzo has got us laughing about – it’s those darn seats (of which the company i’ll not disclose hahaha) ask him yourself! 😛

Damien dearest & Aggie

My primary school frens have initiated a reunion in October this year… I tell ya it’s amazing receiving emails from classmates I’ve not communicated for over 20 years, how freaking old am I?!!!!

To get emails from Dee Arne, Nadine, Leanne, Chris, Vicki & Quan.. OMG!!! It’s fantastic to hear of what they’re doing, if they’re married and to see pics of them now…. wow wow wow….

I feel all nostalgic thinking about my primary school days…

the cute little canteen.. icey poles, pasties, apples
the huge ovals.. tee-ball, the big tyres, playing mum & dad, sports day, long jump
my teachers.. My yr 7 teacher – Mr Gryta, the lovely Mrs Lissiman, Mr Last (the principal)
the uniform.. the tartan shirt, v neck jumper, the boots..
my classmates.. Coral, Vicki, Nadine, Leanne…

Even if I really can’t make it in October I’m so elated I’m at least reconnected with my childhood frens!!!! 🙂

Feasting on North Chinese AGAIN

Wrappin’ things up with a soak!
…………..

Last night was the CNL Girls Nite Out (Swap-Dinner-Soak) and it was ‘Chinese’ themed, so everyone had to doll up Chinese style, I provided Chinese snacks, Teresa Teng played in the background, we ate North Chinese food & had a Chinese foot soak.

Swap. The lovely ladies brought clothes, acccessories, bags, cosmetics, etc to swap. There was plenty of goodies to exchange – with the gals being so funky!!! Pearl was the cutest though, she quickly found some clothes she liked and hung up the dress she wore, replacing it with her new items!

Games & Photo-taking. The bingo game was very simple – basically the gals had to find 9 different people who could identify with the 9 points.. Some of these included:

  • A person who owns a jade accessory
  • Has travelled to Great wall of China
  • Has relatives still in China
  • Can cook a decent Chinese meal

For best dressed dear Trina took a clean sweep. She looked gorgeous in her cobalt Chinese top & gold-fan earrings so DOLLY!!!!

Dinner. We had the North Chinese again, although we tried some new dishes including the red bean dough dessert.

Soak. Wrapping up the eventful night we headed over to Bath Culture for soak & massage – some of us opted for a shoulder rub, whilst some – foot reflexology.

Next girls nite out? Was thinking a diva nite – where we dress up like celebrities 🙂 Any other suggestions? Pls share!

My yaya

July 21, 2007

yayaag.jpg

Ain’t it funny how some friendships are? For instance, what are the odds of befriending your student??!!

Haha, my Yaya & I go back 6yrs now. She was my sec 2 Art student and my first impression of this girl – cute dimples! I remember she drew cats or something.. Anyways what happened was that T and her mum happened to be colleagues and invited them to church, to cut a long story short, she no longer called me Mrs Ong outside of school and we’ve been friends ever since 🙂

Today, Yaya & I decided to dress up and have a nice meal together (we’re too comfy with each other that she complains we never make the effort to dress & eat well :P). We settled for Spagheddis @ Paragon followed by pump & step haha..

I guess you could say she’s like a little sister to me & I probably her big sister, but it’s this special bond when you both know you’re going to be friends for life 🙂

I’m proud of u Yaya, you’ve really come along way since I met you. You’re smart, beautiful, quirky and you constantly spur me on and I love ya heaps…

Cheng Li Yuan Restaurant

July 15, 2007

tg_pag_feast.jpg

After the leaders huddle, T, Jas, Mel, Joey, Sam, Anne & myself sampled some authentic North Chinese food along Tanjong Pagar Rd. Cheng Li Yuan Restaurant to be exact. For $15+ pp we ordered xiao long baos, peking duck, fried-salted-egg-pumpkin, black pepper beef, cold century egg tofu, spinach & century egg, sweet sour pork, & this funky glutinous rice balls with a prawn-salted egg surprise.

It was my 2nd time there and I will return. The ambience is grunge and authentically CHINA-ese – if you’ve travelled to local restaurants in China – it’ll seriously bring back the memories 🙂 More importantly the food IS GOOD, they have a unique and interesting selection of North Chinese dishes at v reasonable prices.

The 07/07/07 Wedding mix up!

July 8, 2007

wokwedding.jpg

On most occasions the hubs is the blur one, but last night I deserved the title for blur queen 😛

Dear Mrs Wok invited Nav & I to her daughter Sharon’s wedding – to be honest I dont’ really know the bride too well, met her once @ a Cirque de Soleil performance some years back, but other than that I vaguely know her. Sooo anyways, Nav & I confidently walked into one of the halls at Orchid Country Club with the invite in hand…. Our names didn’t appear on the guest list, but that didn’t alarm me as I thought it slipped Mrs Wok/Sharon’s mind to update it, hence we were added to the reserve table 9. So we happily walk past the groom (didn’t bother to introduce myself – I figured I don’t know him anyway) and plonked ourselves at table 9 where Nav recognised his Sunday school friend.

So whilst he’s happily chatting away to his long lost friend and the sibling, I decide to check out the couple’s wedding album @ the reception area. Recalling what Sharon looked like, I was thinking the wonders of makeup – cos she really looked different – but then again don’t most brides??! 😛

I return to the table, looking out for Mrs Wok, for my friend Suzanne who was also invited – no where in sight. I check the hp, missed call – Suzanne asks me WHERE ARE U?? I tell her im at table 9, and she says she’s at table 2. I don’t see her, ditto… I tell her but the styrofoam names say Chris & Sharon – she retorts check with the other people at the table. I compare invitations with Nav’s friend – CRIKEY – we’re really at the WRONG Sharon’s wedding.

Embarassed, after warming table 9’s seats, sipping 2 glasses of orange and fiddling with the favors – I signal to Navin lets get outta here!!!!! We leave and dear Nav reminds me to reclaim our hongbaos!!! OMG!!! hahaha!! Fortunately the receptionist was soooo kind and understanding about the mishap and helps me locate the redpackets…

Half an hr later, after the right Sharon & hubby’s wedding procession Navin & I finally arrive… my gawd…..

Hmmm.. which dessert will it be??!!!

What better way to cure a wisdom-less smile??? Answer Canele… Yups, I got my right-upper-wisdom-tooth extracted @ the Toof Doctor yesterday afternoon. Dr Choy said the previous visit, being an upper-wisdom-tooth – I’d only need an LA and that the procedure would take approximately 10min.. Nevertheless it was still a mini-ordeal 😦 The yanking of the tooth was scary!!!! I thought my other teeth were going get to smashed in the process and that my wisdom tooth would be half broken and left behind, thankfully not. After 20min he showed me the tooth and the decay and I was ushered to the receptionist. The ever friendly Wendy just told me to abstain from spicy food & exercise. It was funny cos I wasn’t even dressed in my gym gear. Furthermore, she said I reminded her of her gym teacher in secondary school & asked if I exercised.. Hmmm, think 2 consecutive days of Mr W’s bootcamp really shows! Haha…

Back to Canele. Eileen & Amber swear by it and I’ve been craving it. So I made a lunch date with Milly this afternoon to indulge in some posh nosh 🙂 Tucked away in the relatively quiet & private Robertson Walk, we ordered mushroom soup, salmon crepe, tomato pasta & of course ordered a Black Forest 2007 & some mango white chocolate slice.

Price wise it’s affordable, palette wise – yum – although the crepes were so-so.

My dear Milly is heading over to London in 2months time 😦 Am gonna miss her heaps………
